Last week our annual Health & Safety Update for TSA members took place, once more kindly hosted by Leica Geosystems at Hexagon House.
The morning session was led by Martin Mulholland of MD Safety Management, which has now been working with TSA for 21 years. The Health and Safety update started with a comprehensive overview of the evolution of Health and Safety Regulation in the UK, from the first legislation to have real ‘teeth’, the Factories Act of 1833, up to the present day, including the new benefits and risks presented to our sector by the adoption of AI.
The second session of the day was presented by Chris Morris of CPD Security Training, who provided attendees with a Situational Awareness update to assist our members in keeping themselves, their teams and their survey equipment safe in the face of continued survey equipment theft.
Donna White-Bower, TSA’s office manager, was delighted to attend her first member event and enjoyed putting faces to names while learning more about the Health and Safety challenges members face.
Following the event, Katie Holt, TSA manager, who also attended, said,
“These smaller scale events are an excellent opportunity for information sharing and learning for our members. I really valued the opportunity to understand the journey of health and safety legislation and how it relates to today’s work environment. The afternoon session provided a powerful insight into situational analysis and how we can help ourselves to stay safe.”
